Geography
Geography is the study of people and places and the interaction between them. Geography starts with the children’s immediate experiences, and then extends pupils’ interests and knowledge beyond this to enable them to interpret the images and information about people and places in the world. Geography is concerned with the study of place, space and environment.
Geography teaching includes:
- The study of place describes the location of the physical and human features of the Earth, as well as the processes, systems and interrelationships that create or influence these features.
- The study of spaces explores the relationships between places and patterns of activities arising from the use people make of the physical settings where they work and live.
- The study of the environment covers the physical resources the Earth provides and on which life depends, as well as the impact that these have on human activities, and the impact humans have upon these resources
